Hello Everyone and welcome to physical education!

You are enrolled in either 9th grade physical education or the elective course Fit for Life.  Below you will see some of the highlights of the upcoming semester.

9th Grade Physical education will be engaging in High Intensity Training, fitness components, basketball, volleyball, flag football, and group problem solving activities.  Today, we issued locks and went over all the procedures and teacher expectations of class.  Please make sure to check here every week to see if there has been an brief question or homework assignment posted.

Fit For Life will be engaging in High Intensity Training, fitness component review, RPE, Floor hockey, lacrosse, and the high ropes course.  Today, we issued locks and went over all the procedures and teacher expectations of class.  Please make sure to check here every week to see if there has been an brief question or homework assignment posted.

Health Education will be engaging in a variety of topics that include physical, mental, social health, nutrition, substance abuse and misuse, reproduction, and first aid/cpr.

9th Grade PE – Badminton

By the end of the unit, students will be able to understand, apply, and perform the basic skills within a game situation.  Students will be able to apply doubles strategies and scoring, while maintaining a positive playing atmosphere within game situations.

 

Students will spend each day learning and practicing  their individual badminton and then learn new strategies and history of the game.

We will be ending this unit by Thanksgiving Break.

Fit 4 Life – Tennis Unit

By the end of the unit, students will be able to understand, apply, and perform the forearm and backhand ground strokes within a game situation.  Students will be able to apply doubles strategies and scoring, while maintaining a positive playing atmosphere within game situations.

 

Students will spend each day learning and practicing  their individual Tennis skills and then learn new strategies and history of the game.

We will be ending this unit the week we get back from Thanksgiving Break.

PE Wellness – PickleBall

PE Wellness

We have wrapped up our archery unit, which you all had a great time with many success.  However, we are now moving into the Frisbee unit, throughout this unit the main focus will be working on three types of throwing and two types of catching.  Also, you will be introducing a number of new innovative games that will be created with your input to work on the above mentioned skills.

9th Grade PE – Flag Football

We have finally moved into our flag football unit.  We will be competing and building our skills for the next seven class periods.  Throughout the unit, we will emphasize on throwing, catching, and snapping the ball.  For the first time, we will combine multiple rules from flag football and regular football in a unique game called S.C. Airball.

Wellness – Archery Unit

During the past four class periods, we worked on honing your individual archery skills.  We learned and were  assessed on how to string and de-string a bow, how to retrieve an arrow from a target, and the proper way to shoot an arrow.  In the coming class periods, we will be given the summative assessment on archery, the safety, technique, and performance of the skills.

Please remember to dress appropriately for the the colder temperatures that we will be experiences when we are outdoors.

9th Grade PE -Team Building

The 9th grade class has been working on their Team building through a variety scenario’s.  Each class meeting the students work cooperatively to solve group initiative problems in a given time period.  Some of the activities that they have completed include:  the poisonous peanut butter pit, traffic jam, moving the spirit, birthday line up, and many more.

 

 

Fit For Life – High Ropes

The Fit for Life class as been spending the last four class periods working on belaying using the PBUS technique ascender, and climbing a variety of exercises.  Each student is responsible for Belaying and Climbing during each class meeting.  Please remember as we move closer to the end of the unit, to bring clothes that are suitable for the colder temperatures that we will be experiencing out at Darrah Pond.

The PBUS stands for  Pull, Brake, Under, Slide.

Also, students will be responsible for understanding the safety checks and using correct terminology throughout  the unit.

Fit 4 Life – Fitness Unit

9/15 – HITT training, how the heart works, cardio works , and a variety of games
